Stevie Wonder said he hopes the music that brought the Obamas together helps them bring another baby into the White House. "There would be nothing wrong to have an Obama born in the White House," Wonder said Thursday night at a benefit concert for the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. The performer addressed the leopard-print skirt suit-wearing first lady, who was standing with her mother and dancing to the show. Wonder recalled their meeting last year when he felt the urge to sing a song to Michelle but didn't, saying, "I didn't want to make him [President Obama] jealous....

From a dear Brother who is preparing to work in Asia. Names have been withheld because of the sensitive nature and location of their ministry. ------------------------------------------------------- This is one of the hardest posts for me to write. Today, we went to the Doctor to find out about our baby that we are expecting in 19 weeks. Because this pregnancy hasn’t gone as smoothly as our first one, we were a little worried going into the appointment, especially since we had been given no new information at our last appointment. Well, we finally received some answers today. We were able to...

I just talked to Mindy's sister. She said that the babie's intestines had folded over on itself. She had been fussy and when she spit up and poo'd it had blood in it. That's how they knew Mindy was sick. The doctors did a barium enema and the intestines untwisted. They will keep her over night for observation and if things keep going well they will release her to go home tomorrow. The dotor will have to operate if the part of her intestines that was damaged, doesn't stop bleeding. That's the danger now. So keep praying, prayer warriors, I...

(CNN) -- When Annie Brown's daughter, Isabel, was a month old, her pediatrician asked Brown and her husband to sit down because he had some bad news to tell them: Isabel carried a gene that put her at risk for cystic fibrosis. While grateful to have the information -- Isabel received further testing and she doesn't have the disease -- the Mankato, Minnesota, couple wondered how the doctor knew about Isabel's genes in the first place. After all, they'd never consented to genetic testing. It's simple, the pediatrician answered: Newborn babies in the United States are routinely screened for a...

Babies named after the US president (BARF ALERT!)

Thursday 11th of March 2010 06:02:23 PM
Posted by admin / Under Baby Keepsakes

It is hard to imagine a more personal endorsement of a politician than to give your baby his name - after all, a vote takes a moment, a name is for life. But there is a tradition of Americans reacting to their presidents in this way. The name Franklin reached its peak of popularity in 1933, when Roosevelt's tenure was beginning. Dwight jumped in favour in both 1945 and 1953 when Eisenhower helped win World War II, and then became president. But the worldwide fascination with Obama - who became the first black US president exactly one year ago -...

The doctors performed an emergency C-section when she went into cardiac arrest and immediately after delivering the baby, the mother's pulse returned. She had no hearbeat for four minutes. The baby was initially limp and lifeless when delivered, but doctors worked on the baby boy, and he "came to life" in his dad's arms. All are now doing well. Doctors have no explanation for what happened: Believers would call it a Christmas miracle: A mother dies in labor on Christmas Eve. Her child is...

A loophole in state law is preventing Campbell County investigators from charging a woman they say killed her newborn baby. Deputies were called to a home in the 1200 block of Lone Jack Road in Rustburg about 11 a.m. Friday. The caller said a woman in her early 20s was in labor. When deputies arrived, they discovered the baby had actually been born around 1 a.m., about 10 hours earlier. Investigators said the baby was already dead when deputies got there. Investigators told WSLS the baby’s airway was blocked. They said the baby was under bedding and had been suffocated...
